Fasting Required: No Specimen: Blood Results: 3-5 Business Days Description: High levels of Rheumatoid Arthritis Factors (RA) are found in 80-90% of adult patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as other autoimmune disorders or infections including but not limited to hepatitis, mononucleosis, tuberculosis and syphilis. High RA levels tend to run in families. A person may also have high levels with no active diseases. Methodology: Immunoturbidimetry Reference Range(s): <14 IU/mL Clinical Significance: Elevated RF is found in collagen vascular diseases such as SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, Sjögren's Syndrome, and in other conditions such as leprosy, tuberculosis, syphilis, malignancy, thyroid disease and in a significant percentage of otherwise normal elderly patients.
